On August 11-12, and 16-19, 2022, Project SAFE staff, Mr. Carl Dionelle Ponce and Ms. Kimberly Joy Mata, visited 12 Schools Division Offices (SDO) in Region III to request approval for the distribution and evaluation of reading materials in selected schools of Central Luzon.

Among the 12 SDOs, four offices (Meycauayan City, Balanga City, Tarlac City, and Tarlac) have already approved the team's activities which will kick off on August 22, 2022, onwards.

Dr. Ramilo C. Cruz, Education Program Supervisor - EPP/TVL/TLE/ICT, and Mr. Vic Romar M. Mercurio, DRRM Project Development Officer II of SDO Meycauayan City expressed their support in the project's endeavor and provided assistance to the group. SDO Meycauayan City will also coordinate the activities to the selected elementary and secondary schools that the office recommended to the team.

Aside from the coordination of upcoming activities, the team is also preparing for the commencement of IEC distribution and evaluation in the Bulacan province next week.

Meanwhile, Ms. Mata and Mr. Ponce are in continuous communication with the SDOs which have yet to indorse the activities.#

This event was attended by 29 participants consisted of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) and Municipal Agricultural and Fishery Council (MAFC) staff. They were joined by the Municipal Agriculture Officer, Ms. Susan Quito.

Municipal Mayor, Hon. Catalina M. Cabrera welcomed the project team and shared her aim to help the community, especially the problems in the siltation of the river.

The lecture on biodiversity conservation and phytoremediation technology were delivered by Mr. Daryl Juganas.

The said seminar-workshop was conducted to create awareness among people on the importance of biodiversity conservation and the green technology for remediating contaminated areas.

Biodiversity conservation of agroecosytem and phytoremediation technology were presented by Mr. Roberto D. Pelayo, and Mr. Daryl A. Juganas. The seminar concluded with a policy forum to identify the benefits obtained from ecosystems, problems encountered and their corresponding causes, effects, and possible interventions.

The major concern raised by the participants in agroecosystem is the lack of assistance for soil testing which leads to inaccurate assessment of the soil’s fertility to make fertilizer recommendations.

The activity was participated by farmers and Municipal Agriculture Office staff. Meanwhile, Ms. Kathrina M. Mapanao and Ms. Teodora A. Polo served as facilitators.

The said activities in Tarlac, Pampanga and Bataan will commence this September 2022.
